Responding to the Government’s financial statement, Andrew Pakes, Labour’s Parliamentary Candidate for Peterborough commented:

“Peterborough has so much potential, but we are falling behind whilst mortgages, food and energy costs all go up.

“Just last month our Conservative MP was cheering on reckless tax cuts for those at the top, today he is cheering on more pain for the rest of us.

“According to the IFS families now face the biggest fall in disposable income on record taking incomes back to 2013 levels.

“This is in part an international crisis, but the government needs come clean and be honest about how they have made it worse by crashing the economy and putting the wealthiest ahead of people in our city.

“Peterborough needs a plan for growth, and an economy that works for working people. That is what Labour will bring.”
